Melee weapons are a key role to backup DPS. Depending on the mod set you can turn your Melee weapons into efficient killing monsters. Melee weapons can vary between Swords, Daggers, Polearms, Gauntlets, Whips, Tonfas, Scythes, Dual Swords, Dual Daggers, Heavy Blades, Hammers, Glaives, Gunblades, Nunchaku, Rapiers, Sword and Shield, and Claws. Melee combat is great if you just want to run around and slaughter all the Grineer, Corpus, Infested, and Corrupted.
